Udaipur: On July 6th, the ‘Catch the Rain’ campaign for rainwater conservation was launched with the virtual presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister of Jal Shakti, C.R. Patil, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chowdhury in Surat. This campaign has now grown into a nationwide public movement.
On Tuesday, in Jaipur, Prime Minister Modi praised Union Minister C.R. Patil for leading the campaign. Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh Chief Ministers were also present at the event. Modi expressed confidence that this initiative would bring significant change to the groundwater situation in the country. Union Minister C.R. Patil emphasized that the campaign has now become a mass movement.
Patil highlighted that Prime Minister Modi had called for several successful water conservation measures. In 2021, Modi had urged the adoption of rainwater harvesting. On July 6th, the 'Catch the Rain' campaign was initiated virtually by the Prime Minister from Surat. Business leaders from Rajasthan, connected to Surat, took responsibility for constructing four water recharge bore wells in each village across Rajasthan and surrounding areas as part of this initiative, and the work is progressing.
