 Awareness Campaign to Eradicate the Evil of Drug Addiction from Society

 

Sri Ganganagar,  In a joint effort by the district police and administration, an awareness camp called "Nasha Mukti Jagrukta Shivir" was organized on Saturday at the Government Senior Secondary School in Bhadwawala, Raisinghnagar, under Operation Border.

As the chief guest of the program, former Union Minister and Member of Parliament, Shri Nihalchand Meghwal, stated that everyone must distance themselves from the harmful habit of drug addiction. Especially the younger generation should stay away from drugs. He urged everyone to join hands and work together to eliminate this evil from society. He also announced the establishment of a library in Bhadwawala.

SP Shri Paris Deshmukh mentioned that the objective of Operation Border is to create awareness among the people of border areas regarding drug addiction and also to thwart the nefarious activities carried out by neighboring countries. He highlighted Pakistan's increasing use of drones for drug trafficking in the border regions. In case of any suspicious activities by local residents, immediate information should be provided to the police or BSF.

During this occasion, the play presented by the Red Art Theater Group, depicting the consequences of drug addiction, was highly appreciated and deeply moved the audience. The emotional portrayal by young artist Lakshya Jyani, who depicted the consequences of selling drugs, touched the hearts of the spectators. The play also showcased a mother's grief upon losing her son to drug addiction.

In the play, Shri Vikram Jyani, playing the lead role, emphasized the need for parents and the general public to remain vigilant as the influence of drugs can destroy their children's lives. The performances of Mamta Puri, Sehiram, and Saurabh Saharan in the play were commendable. Shri Jyani informed that the play was staged as part of the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) initiated by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment to raise awareness among the youth. The Nasha Mukti Abhiyan (Drug-Free Campaign) is being conducted under the leadership of District Collector Shri Saurabh Swami and District Police Superintendent Shri Paris Deshmukh.

On this occasion, prominent attendees included Supriya Bhagat, representative of the BSF's 34th Battalion, IAS officer Prateek Juikar, and former MLA Smt. Sona Devi Bawari, Panchayat Samiti President Smt. Sunita Godara, Santosh Bishnoi, Municipal Council President Harish Dabi, ASP Jay Singh Tanwar, Deputy Police Superintendent Anu Bishnoi, Manish Kuldalia, Mithu Singh, District Council member Banta Singh, Kishor Barupal, and others. Sarpanch Sonu Saharan welcomed the gathering and called for active participation in the campaign against drug addiction. Sarpanch Saharan and School Principal Kavita Verma honoured the guests with mementoes.
