District Collector Directs Regular Inspections of De-addiction and Psychiatry Centers

Shri Ganganagar,  The District Standing Committee meeting of the Narcotics Coordination Center was held on Wednesday in the Collectorate Auditorium, chaired by District Collector Dr. Manju. During the meeting, the District Collector emphasized the need for surprise inspections of de-addiction and psychiatric centers operating in the district, urging thorough checks of their records. Any irregularities found should be addressed through appropriate action as per regulations.

The District Collector stressed that regular inspections of de-addiction and psychiatric centers should be conducted, with a focus on checking available facilities and records. She also directed verification of the qualifications of the staff working at these centers. The Drug Control Department, along with pharmaceutical agencies, was instructed to conduct surprise inspections of medical stores, ensuring the availability of CCTV cameras at all locations. The recordings from these cameras should be checked to confirm the presence of pharmacists, and any discrepancies should be dealt with as per the law.

The District Collector further mentioned that proper monitoring should be maintained over medicines coming from outside the district. She also directed follow-up of patients visiting the de-addiction wards at the district hospital, ensuring that the records for medications and counseling provided to these patients are maintained properly. The Drug Department was tasked with ensuring that medical stores operate only where required, and none should be allowed in areas where there is no demand.

To prevent narcotics smuggling through drone activities in border areas, the District Collector instructed police, BSF, and other agencies to maintain regular surveillance. She also stressed strict action against narcotics trafficking, and called for vigilant monitoring by police and BSF personnel.

The District Collector emphasized the importance of awareness campaigns under the "Nasha Mukt Ganganagar" initiative, urging everyone to collaborate in spreading awareness about de-addiction. She suggested joint surprise inspections by police, health, drug control, and social justice departments at medical stores, de-addiction, and psychiatric centers. Any irregularities should lead to strict legal action. Additionally, all medical stores should display de-addiction posters, QR codes for pledges, and the police helpline number, making it easier for the public to report those selling drugs.

District Police Superintendent, Mr. Gaurav Yadav, stated that any information regarding narcotics smuggling or suspicious activities in the border areas should be shared with BSF and police to ensure strict action. He emphasized the need for cooperation among all agencies to prevent such activities. He also highlighted the importance of public awareness for de-addiction efforts, adding that collective action could curb drug-related issues.

Discussions were also held regarding the security of the India-Mala road in the international border area, with proposals for setting up new police stations, installing CCTV cameras, and increasing the activity of beat constables.
