Udaipur – A resolution to grant constitutional recognition to the Rajasthani language was taken. Dr. Ajeet Kumar Karnataka, Vice Chancellor of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur, stated that neglecting the Rajasthani language even after 77 years of independence is unfair. He was addressing the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Rajasthani Language Department, organized jointly by the Rajasthani Language Department and Maharaja Man Singh Pustak Prakash in Jodhpur. He urged everyone to take a pledge to remove obstacles and secure recognition for the language on Rajasthan Day.
Noted poet and critic Dr. Arjun Dev Charan stated that denying recognition to the Rajasthani language is an injustice to 10 crore people. Head of Department Dr. Gajendra Singh Rajpurohit highlighted the 50-year journey and achievements of the department. On this occasion, Professor Kalyan Singh Shekhawat and his wife were honored, along with Professor Sohandan Charan for receiving the Sahitya Akademi Translation Award.
The event witnessed the launch of six books, including those authored by Bheem Singh Rathore, Meenakshi Borana, Dhananjaya Amarawat, Om Nagar, Mahendra Singh Tanwar, and Gaje Singh Rajpurohit.
A special exhibition showcasing Rajasthani books and turbans was held at the event. Dr. Karnataka was honored by the Rajasthani Language Department by adorning him with 35 different types of turbans, including Marwari, Mewari, and Peshwari styles.
For their significant contributions to Rajasthani literature and language, Dr. Mangat Badal, Madhu Acharya, Dr. Madan Saini, and Dr. Laxmikant Vyas were honored. The event saw participation from eminent scholars, researchers, and literature enthusiasts from the fields of literature, education, and culture.
