Udaipur, January 26. The 76th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the sports ground in the administrative building complex of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT). Vice-Chancellor Dr. Ajit Kumar Karnataka hoisted the national flag and took the salute from the NCC, NSS cadets, and Scout-Guide parade.
On this occasion, Dr. Karnataka said that Republic Day symbolizes the spirit of a free and united India. He remembered the glorious day of January 26, 1950, when the Constitution of India was enacted. He stated that this day reminds us to adhere to the principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity enshrined in our Constitution. Dr. Karnataka also paid homage to the architect of the Constitution, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.
Highlighting the achievements of the university, Dr. Karnataka mentioned that MPUAT has entered its 26th year of establishment, setting new benchmarks in teaching, research, outreach, and entrepreneurship development. He expressed pride in the university’s contribution to celebrating the International Year of Millets and developing smart villages, earning national recognition in these areas.
Discussing the accomplishments of 2024, he stated that the national approval of Pratap Hybrid Maize-6, the notification of Pratap Jowar-2510 in the Indian Gazette, and the identification of four new varieties of crops—peanut, ashwagandha, dill, and psyllium—by the State Variety Release Committee are significant outcomes of the university's research policy. He also expressed pride in MPUAT being chosen as one of the eight centers under the "National Natural Farming Mission" across India and congratulated the Organic Farming Team for launching a farmer-friendly app on organic farming.
Dr. Karnataka announced that following the success of villages like Madar and Brahmanon Ki Hundar, work has commenced in villages such as Hinta, Dholikheda, Pyari, Hasmatganj, Badla, and Kamliguda as per the directives of the Honorable Governor.
The event was attended by the deans, directors, financial controllers, other officials, staff, and students of the university. Public Relations Officer Dr. Latika Vyas informed that the parade was led by Under Officer Vansh Pratap Singh Chauhan, while the program was hosted by Deepak Chaubisa.
