Delay in Pension Payments Causes Financial Strain for Retirees

 The pensioners at Maharana Tap Krishna & Engineering College, Udaipur, have expressed concern over the delayed processing of their pensions under the CPF-to-OPS pension scheme, which was introduced by the state government in 2023. According to the government’s instructions, the college had deposited the necessary contributions to the designated government PD (Pension Disbursement) account, and pensions were supposed to be disbursed from these funds. However, despite following the prescribed procedures, pensioners are facing significant delays in receiving their monthly pension payments.

The issue has been compounded by the fact that not only are pensions not being processed on time, but the necessary paperwork and approvals from the state government's Jaipur office are also taking months. For instance, despite government orders, the pension payments for the months of September and October were not processed before Diwali, though in previous years, pensioners had received their October payments well before the festival.

This delay has left many pensioners in financial distress, as they are unable to manage their daily expenses due to the non-receipt of their pensions. The college administration, particularly the finance and pension-related departments, has been accused of being indifferent to the plight of pensioners, demonstrating a lack of sensitivity to their concerns.

In a bid to resolve the issue, several pensioners approached the Vice Chancellor’s office, seeking a prompt and fair solution to the ongoing delays in their pension payments. They have called for immediate intervention and a systemic solution to ensure timely disbursements in the future.
