Special Campaign Against Illegal Mining Launched on Chief Minister's Directive

Udaipur: On the directive of Chief Minister Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, a special campaign has been launched across the state to curb illegal mining. In line with this, the administration and police in Udaipur district have geared up for the initiative. District Collector Namit Mehta and Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal held a meeting via video conference on Wednesday with Sub-Divisional Officers, Tehsildars, police, and mining department officials. During the meeting, strict instructions were given to take immediate and stern action against illegal mining.

At the meeting held in the mini conference hall of the Collectorate, District Collector Mr. Mehta emphasized that the Chief Minister is very serious about tackling illegal mining. He has instructed that the state must take strict measures to completely eradicate illegal mining. A special campaign is being run across the state, and the district administration has been directed to collaborate with the police and mining department to conduct joint inspections of sensitive areas prone to illegal mining activities. They are also to take action and file FIRs against those involved. The District Collector stated that no leniency will be tolerated during this campaign.

He further informed that teams are being formed at both district and sub-divisional levels, which will also include representatives from the mining department to ensure there are no delays in taking further action in cases of seized vehicles or materials related to illegal mining or transportation. He added that a portal has also been created to track daily activities related to the campaign.

**Zero Tolerance Policy**

District Collector Mr. Mehta reiterated that illegal mining and the illegal transportation of mined products will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He urged all officers to work with a zero-tolerance policy and take the strictest actions possible. He also emphasized that this campaign is being run under the Chief Minister’s directive, and there should be no local pressures that affect the implementation of the campaign.

**Checkpoints and Continuous Patrolling**

Superintendent of Police Yogesh Goyal directed all police officers in the district to remain on high alert, continuously patrol, and take action against illegal mining and transportation. He mentioned sensitive areas by police station and instructed the respective police officers to ensure necessary and effective actions are taken.

**Transport of Legal Mining Without Proper Documentation is Also Illegal**

During the meeting, Mining Engineer Asif Ansari clarified that even if mining is legal, transporting it without the required documentation (ravanna) will be considered illegal. The District Collector instructed that such cases should also be closely monitored, and appropriate action should be taken.

**100% Registration in FRC**

The District Collector also discussed the progress of the Farmer Registration Camps (FRC) with all Sub-Divisional Officers. He directed that the camps be continued until April 10 and that 100% registration of farmers be ensured in the district according to the set targets.

The meeting was attended by SDM Girwa Sonika Kumari, Deputy Forest Conservator North Ajay Chittoda, District Transport Officer Nitin Prakash Bohra, Additional SP Umesh Ojha, Anjana Sukhwal, Deputy Superintendent Ravindra Singh, Hathi Pol Police Station Officer Yogendra Vyas, and Sukher Police Station Sub-Inspector Karmvir Singh. All the sub-divisional officers, Tehsildars, and other concerned officials participated in the meeting via video conference.
