Udaipur: A review meeting was held at the RTO office in Udaipur under the chairmanship of Additional Transport Commissioner, Mrs. Nidhi Singh, to assess the revenue collections and enforcement activities conducted by the transport department. The meeting focused on the revenue targets allocated by the state government for the 2024-25 fiscal year, as well as the enforcement actions carried out by the department.
Mrs. Singh took progress reports from RTOs, ARTOs, and DTOs and issued necessary directives for improvements. She discussed in detail the departmental activities, revenue generation, and enforcement actions carried out throughout the year in districts including Udaipur, Banswara, Dungarpur, Rajsamand, and Salumber. She expressed satisfaction with the revenue collections and enforcement actions in most districts, but emphasized the need for increased attention in Dungarpur and Rajsamand to improve performance.
With only 8-10 days left in the current financial year, Mrs. Singh urged all officers and enforcement staff to ensure that offices remain open during the remaining public holidays in March. She instructed them to devise a work plan to contact vehicle owners with pending taxes and ensure that all outstanding payments are collected by March 31. She also discussed the ongoing road safety awareness campaigns and emphasized the importance of organizing continuous public awareness programs in the region.
Regional Transport Officer, Gyandev Vishwakarma, reported that out of the allocated revenue target of ₹761.77 crores for the fiscal year, ₹617.08 crores (81%) has already been collected. He added that notices have been sent to owners of vehicles with unpaid taxes, and staff is following up through SMS messages to encourage payments before the end of March.
Mr. Vishwakarma appealed to vehicle owners to pay their outstanding dues by March 31 to receive a payment certificate from the department. He warned that starting April 1, a widespread and intensive campaign would be launched, leading to the suspension of permits and registration of vehicles with pending taxes.
In light of the large number of defaulters, many vehicle owners were seen at the RTO office on Friday, making payments to clear their outstanding dues. On the same day, 235 commercial and passenger vehicles were seized across the region.
