the Ministry of Mines issued a Gazette Notification (No. 924(A)) adding quartz, feldspar, mica, and barite minerals to the list of major minerals. Following this, on February 21, 2025, the Ministry sent a letter to the Chief Secretaries and Secretaries of Mining Departments in all states, informing them that under the MCDR Rule 45, mineral owners are required to register these minerals with the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) by March 31, 2025.
In this regard, the Regional Office of the Indian Bureau of Mines in Ajmer, along with UCCI, organized a workshop-cum-camp on March 20, 2025, at the Udaipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry hall. The workshop, held under the leadership of Shri Abhay Agarwal, Controller of Mines, Indian Bureau of Mines, was aimed at mineral lessees and mining associations of Udaipur, Dungarpur, Banswara, Pratapgarh, Salumber, Rajsamand, and Chittorgarh districts, focusing on quartz, feldspar, mica, and barite minerals.
The event was attended by senior officials from the Rajasthan Government’s Mining and Geology Department, Regional Mining Controller Shri Chandresh Bohra from IBM Ajmer, Udaipur Chamber of Commerce President Shri M.L. Lunawat, Mining Engineer Shri Asif Ansari, RSMML's Shri M.S. Paliwal, and Dr. Hitanshu Kaushal. During the session, Shri Chandresh Bohra guided the mineral lessees on registration procedures and provided registration numbers to applicants on the spot.
Shri Abhay Agarwal, Controller of Mines, explained the Mining and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957, and related rules. He emphasized that if the lessees follow the regulations, there would be no difficulties, and mining operations could be conducted in a scientific, systematic, and environmentally friendly manner. He also highlighted that similar camps are being organized across the country to provide registration information and expedite the registration process.
The event saw participation from over 100 attendees. Senior Mining Geologist Shri Dilip Jain concluded the event by expressing gratitude to all participants and stakeholders.
