Transport Department Issues Notices to 4200 Vehicle Owners

Udaipur: The Transport Department has continued its crackdown on commercial vehicles that have failed to pay taxes and have violated permit conditions as part of its ongoing efforts to collect outstanding dues by the end of March. On Thursday, around 4200 vehicle owners received notices for not paying the government’s outstanding tax and breaching the permit terms. These vehicles will have their permits and registration certificates revoked.

RTO Gyandev Vishwakarma issued notices to truck, trailer, and other heavy vehicle owners who have not yet paid their taxes for the coming year. These vehicle owners have been summoned to his office on March 24. If they fail to provide a valid reason for not paying the tax, their permits will be revoked.

Vishwakarma emphasized that by not paying the tax on time, vehicle owners had seriously violated the terms of the permit. If the tax is not paid, both the permit and registration certificates will be canceled. On Thursday, in Banswara, 53 vehicles; Udaipur, 26 vehicles; Rajsamand, 16 vehicles; Dungarpur, 36 vehicles; and Salumber, 8 vehicles were seized for failing to pay the tax. In total, 835 challans were issued, collecting Rs. 30.46 lakhs in fines, contributing to a total revenue of Rs. 3.35 crore.

Vishwakarma added that due to the large number of vehicles failing to pay their taxes, transport inspectors from other districts were deployed in Udaipur for more stringent checks. This increased staffing will ensure more effective action against violators.
