Udaipur. A one-day workshop on "The Participation and Role of the Forest Department and Public in Forest and Wildlife Conservation under the Afforestation Program" was organized at the Forest Department Hall by the Rajasthan Forestry and Wildlife Training Institute, Jaipur, in collaboration with NABARD.
Dr. Venkatesh Sharma, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Training), delivered the keynote address during the workshop. Dr. Sharma emphasized that the first condition for ensuring public participation is to "win the trust of the people," as this is essential for achieving success.
During the session, a wildlife expert from Maharashtra and the Managing Director of the Wildlife Conservation Society India shared insights on issues related to human-wildlife conflict. Ajay Chittora, Deputy Conservator of Forests, presented a case study on controlling human-wildlife conflicts in local conditions. Mukesh Saini, Assistant Conservator of Forests, discussed forest conservation and management, while wildlife expert Dr. Satish Sharma provided information on biodiversity conservation through public participation.
The workshop began with a welcome address by Course Director Shaitan Singh Devda, who highlighted the purpose of the workshop and welcomed the guests and experts. Other participants included Deputy Conservators of Forests Sanjay Gupta, Chandrapal Singh, O.P. Suthar, Umesh Bansal, Kasturi Sule, Sunil Kumar Singh, and others.
