Udaipur: To ensure visible cleanliness in rural areas, a special cleanliness campaign was launched on Thursday following instructions from the state government. The district-level inauguration of this campaign took place at Gram Panchayat Loyra in the Baragon Panchayat Samiti under the direction of District Collector Namit Mehta and the leadership of District Council CEO Riya Dabi. The campaign, which will run until 25th February, aims to clean public spaces through community labor (Shramdan) and raise awareness among the public to bring about behavioral changes towards cleanliness.
On Thursday, the cleanliness drive began at Gram Panchayat Loyra, in the presence of CEO Riya Dabi, with a cleanup of plastic and garbage near the Chikhalwas petrol pump on the Gogunda highway, starting from Bargaon. By noon, the area was completely clean and free of waste. CEO Mrs. Dabi took an oath to make the area free of single-use plastics. Additionally, Gram Panchayat Bargaon Pradhan Mrs. Pratibha Nagda administered a pledge to remain vigilant about cleanliness and dedicate two hours each week for Shramdan.
The program was attended by Gram Panchayat Administrator Priyanka Suthar, Development Officer Hitesh Joshi, Additional Development Officer Hanuman Singh, Lokesh Vaishnav, Gram Vikas Officer Rakesh Sirvi, Narayan Gameti, along with representatives from NGOs and several villagers. The CEO also instructed that the waste be disposed of at a waste collection center and large garbage bins be placed on-site. She appealed to the public to actively participate and help remove old waste and maintain cleanliness in all rural areas through community involvement.
