Udaipur, The upcoming Railway Budget may bring additional railway services for the Udaipur Parliamentary Constituency. Survey work for new railway lines is ongoing, and the work of laying new tracks is also progressing.
In the discussion on the Railway (Amendment) Bill, 2024 in the Lok Sabha, Udaipur MP Mannalal Rawat raised issues related to his constituency. Railway, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw sent a letter to Mr. Rawat providing details on the matter.
MP Mannalal Rawat mentioned that Ashwini Vaishnaw informed him that the work on the Neemuch-Badi Sadri, Nathdwara-Nathdwara Town, and Devgarh Madriya Nathdwara railway lines is progressing. The survey for the new Devgarh-Bar and Neemuch-Kota lines is also underway. Instructions have been issued to the concerned directorates for the initiation, expansion, and stop verification of new services, including Vande Bharat trains.
The letter highlighted that the average annual budget allocation for infrastructure and safety works partially or fully covering Rajasthan from 2009-14 was around ₹682 crore per year, which has increased nearly 15-fold to ₹29,959 crore for 2024-25. Additionally, under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 85 railway stations in Rajasthan have been identified for development, including two stations in the Udaipur Parliamentary Constituency. The work on Rana Pratap Nagar Station is underway, and the redevelopment of Udaipur City Station, with an investment of over ₹350 crore, is also progressing. Moreover, the work on 12 railway overbridges and underbridges in the Udaipur constituency, with a total cost exceeding ₹90 crore, is moving forward.
