Udaipur: During the Udaipur Bird Festival organized by the Forest Department, a variety of activities are being conducted.
Deputy Forest Conservator Devendra Kumar Tiwari shared that a photography workshop based on the life cycle and activities of various native and foreign birds was held, with members from Nikon India and Canon providing insights into photography. During the Bird Race, six different teams conducted a bird count at the reservoirs within a 50 km radius of Udaipur city. Additionally, students participated in painting and quiz competitions in both senior and junior groups. At the OTS Conference Hall, the Nature Literary Festival featured bird and environmental experts who provided the public with in-depth knowledge about birds. Padma Shri Shyam Sundar Paliwal, Asad Rahmani, and Anand Banerjee were among the experts who shared their knowledge on the subject. On Saturday evening, more than 1300 students were given free tours of the Bird Park at Gulab Bagh, where they were informed about various species of native and foreign birds.
**Bird Watching at Reservoirs**
As part of the Udaipur Bird Festival on Saturday, over 380 bird enthusiasts participated in the Wetland Visit, traveling in seven buses and four taxis from Chetak Circle. Bird experts Asad R. Rahmani, Anand Banerjee, Dr. Satish Kumar Sharma, and Dr. Rajat Bhargava guided the participants, helping them identify different bird species and providing useful information.
Meanwhile, renowned butterfly experts Mukesh Pawar and Sharmila Pawar from the state demonstrated the life cycle of butterflies to the bird and environmental enthusiasts at the festival. They provided a live demonstration of the butterfly life cycle, displaying eggs, larvae, and pupae on host plants, along with photographs of the life cycle stages.
**Closing Ceremony Tomorrow**
The closing ceremony of the Udaipur Bird Festival will take place on Sunday, 19th January, at 9 AM at the Harishchandra Mathur Lok Training Institute, with Babulal Kharadi, Minister of Tribal Area Development, as the Chief Guest. The ceremony will be chaired by Phool Singh Meena, with special guests including Udaipur Rural Chief Conservator of Forests S.R.V. Moorthy and Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevalramani. During the event, winners of various competitions held during the festival will be awarded by the guests. Additionally, bird enthusiasts involved in bird rescue and conservation work will also be honored. The selected paintings of the competition winners will be uploaded to the website of the Wildlife Division’s Deputy Conservator.
