District Collector Emphasizes Collective Efforts for Environmental Protection

Udaipur: A meeting of the District Environment Committee was held on Tuesday evening at the Mini Auditorium of the Collectorate, chaired by District Collector Arvind Poswal. 

The meeting focused on various aspects of environmental protection in the city and district. The District Collector stressed the importance of collective efforts for environmental conservation. He instructed effective measures to control noise pollution in the city and ensure that the lakes remain pollution-free. The Collector inquired about the compliance with the directives given in the previous meeting regarding noise pollution. He also emphasized taking strong action to prevent the contamination of lakes with sewage water. Additionally, he instructed the formation of a local committee for the protection of migratory birds and wetland conservation in Menar. 

The District Collector expressed concern over the continued presence of plastic bags in the city and instructed the Municipal Corporation to launch a special campaign against plastic bags within the next 10-15 days. He also focused on the cleaning of lakes, directed marble industry owners to install filter plants to prevent marble slurry, and urged municipal officials to take action to stop scrap dealers from burning waste material. Furthermore, he instructed the Transport Department to take action against vehicles older than 15 years. 

Collector Poswal also directed the formation of a committee to create a detailed action plan for a "No Vehicle Zone" in the city.

The meeting was attended by Municipal Corporation Commissioner Ramprakash, Assistant Conservator of Forests Ajay Chittora, trainee IAS officer Madhav Bhardwaj, and various officers from departments associated with the Environment Committee.

Eco-Sensitive Zone Meeting

Udaipur: A meeting of the Sajjangarh Wildlife Sanctuary Eco-Sensitive Zone Monitoring Committee was held, chaired by District Collector Arvind Poswal. The meeting discussed technical aspects of the Zonal Master Plan and provided necessary guidelines. The protection of the Eco-Sensitive Zone and issues related to land conversion were also discussed. The meeting was attended by UDA Commissioner Rahul Jain, OSD Jitendra Ojha, and Assistant Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) DK Tiwari, among others.
