Birsa Munda Play Reminds Audience of the Revolutionaries

Udaipur: On the second day of the National Tribal Festival, organized by the Western Regional Cultural Centre to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, a theatrical performance based on his life, titled *Birsa Munda*, was staged at the Darpan Auditorium in Shilpgram. The event was graced by Udaipur MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat as the chief guest, with Udaipur Rural MLA Phool Singh Meena and Dr. Rajni Rawat as special guests.

Furkan Khan, Director of the Western Regional Cultural Centre, Udaipur, informed that the two-day National Tribal Festival concluded with the performance of *Birsa Munda*, which highlighted the life and struggles of the tribal leader. The play, written by Satish Dave and conceptualized and directed by Rajkumar Rayakwar, was accompanied by music composed by Abhishek Dubey. This play was part of a 25-day theatrical workshop conducted by the Ramkrishna Repertory Cultural and Social Society.

*Abua Dishum Abua Raj* (Birsa Munda) tells the story of an ordinary man who becomes a revolutionary hero and is revered as a god for his contributions to his community and country. Birsa Munda’s efforts as a tribal leader, particularly his fight to protect his people's land, forests, and rights against powerful forces, are portrayed as extraordinary. His work, especially in the face of epidemics like cholera and smallpox, exemplifies his selflessness and commitment to his society.

Art lovers appreciated the performance and the acting of the cast. At the end of the event, all the artists were honored for their contributions. The event was attended by the Centre's Deputy Director (Programs) Pawan Amarawat, Chief Engineer C.L. Salvi, Program Executive Hemant Mehta, and others. The program was conducted by the Centre’s Assistant Director (Financial & Accounting), Durgesh Chandwani.
