Udaipur, The Udaipur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UCCI) delegation, led by President Shri M.L. Lunawat, along with members Shri R.R. Harlalka, Shri Kapil Surana, Shri Hitanshu Kaushal, and Shri Nanalal Sardul from Rajsamand Association, paid a courtesy visit to Shri Deepak Tanwar, Additional Director (Environment & Development) in the Department of Mining and Geology, Rajasthan Government. During the meeting, the delegation expressed gratitude for his positive role and active efforts in the district-level environmental clearance process.
President Shri Lunawat praised Shri Tanwar’s leadership in effectively implementing the orders of the Honorable Supreme Court. He highlighted how Shri Tanwar played a crucial role in ensuring the timely and proactive issuance of environmental clearances by the state government, which was commendable.
The UCCI delegation also appreciated the Rajasthan Government's decision to appoint top national lawyers to present the case before the Supreme Court in a compelling manner.
Shri Hitanshu Kaushal, a member of UCCI’s Mining Committee, informed that the Supreme Court had recently issued an order directing that the re-evaluation process through SEIAA (State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority) be completed by March 31, 2025. The Court also mandated that all leaseholders who have not yet applied for environmental clearance should do so within three weeks. Additionally, the Court instructed that SEIAA be constituted in states where it has not yet been established, with a six-week deadline for completion.
President Shri M.L. Lunawat further added that if necessary, the UCCI delegation would meet with the Principal Secretary of the Mining Department and the Honorable Chief Minister to ensure that the Supreme Court’s orders are implemented smoothly and within the prescribed time frame.
Shri Kapil Surana, a member of the Mining Committee, mentioned that UCCI has appealed to all mineral leaseholders who have not yet applied for environmental clearance to complete the application process as soon as possible.
