Participants Deliver Dazzling Performances at Folk Dance Competition

The "Folk Dance Competition" organized by the Indian Folk Art Mandal, Udaipur on the occasion of Children's Day saw participants captivating the audience with their outstanding performances.

Dr. Laik Hussain, Director of the Indian Folk Art Mandal, Udaipur, explained that the event was organized to raise awareness about Rajasthan's traditional folk dances among the youth and to promote their cultural heritage. The competition included both solo and group dance categories, with participants showcasing their talent in a variety of folk dance forms.

In the solo dance category, the first place was awarded to Nivedya Kenneth, a student from St. Anthony Senior Secondary School, Udaipur. The second place went to Gunjan Nath from Government Girls Higher Primary School, Madar, while Gunjan Chobisa from Mahatma Gandhi Government School, Bahanro secured the third position.

In the group dance category, the first place was claimed by Tanishka Jain and her group from St. Anthony Senior Secondary School. The second place was awarded to Anju Aheer and her team from J.V. Public School, Udaipur, and the third place went to Divya Chobisa and her group from Mahatma Gandhi Government School, Bahanro. The winners were felicitated with mementos and certificates by Honorary Secretary Satyaprakash Goyal, Director Dr. Laik Hussain, and the panel of judges.

Dr. Hussain mentioned that the Indian Folk Art Mandal will continue to organize such competitions in the future. He also announced that the winners of the competition will be given the opportunity to perform at the annual "Lokanuranjan Mela," which is held on the Mandal’s foundation day, February 22, each year.

On this occasion, Satyaprakash Goyal, the Honorary Secretary of the Mandal, expressed his gratitude to the participants and teachers from various schools. He highlighted that Rajasthan has a long-standing tradition of folk dances, with people performing them during festivals, fairs, and weddings, reflecting the rich cultural diversity of the region. Since its inception, the Indian Folk Art Mandal has been committed to the preservation, documentation, promotion, and dissemination of local art and culture, and today's event was a testament to these efforts.
