Pilgrims Embark on 27 km Trek on the Ninth Day of the 12-Day Religious Journey to Shri Sammed Shikhar

Udaipur  | Under the auspices of JSGIF Mewar Region, a 12-day religious pilgrimage to Shri Sammed Shikhar Ji commenced today, with pilgrims participating in a 27 km trek on the ninth day. Early this morning at 2 AM, the group began their journey after offering prayers at Bhomiya Ji and chanting praises of Lord Parsvanath.

Chairman of the Mewar Region, Anil Nahar, noted that on this ninth day, pilgrims traversed the sacred hill, visiting various Jin Tunks (shrines) as per their ability, thereby enriching their spiritual journey. Nahar explained that the trek consists of a 9 km ascent, a 9 km circumambulation, and a 9 km return, totaling 27 km. This journey, filled with worship and reverence at the sites of 20 Tirthankars' Nirvana, is believed to absolve all sins and pave the way for spiritual advancement.

The food committee, led by Prakash Kothari and Gunwant Vagrecha, provided refreshments, including Navkarshi (a Jain ritual) at the water temple for all pilgrims participating in the trek.

Committee coordinators Tinu Mandawat and Ramesh Singvi shared that pilgrims reached the highest point of Jain faith, Taaleti, where they rejuvenated themselves with sugarcane juice, fennel, cloves, black pepper, and lemon water.

Accommodation committee coordinator Vijay Sishodia mentioned that several dignitaries, including Udaipur MLA Tarachand Jain, former Assembly Speaker Shantilal Chaplot, and National President of the Shraman Sangh Women's Wing Pushpa Gokhru, participated in the hill trek and visited the accommodation site for rest.

Secretary Mahesh Porwal announced that a grand procession will be organized tomorrow morning at the base of Shri Sammed Shikhar Ji, featuring elephants, horses, camels, bands, and participants dressed in traditional attire.
