Artistic Insights Provided Through Local and Folk Art Training

Udaipur . On the second day of the local and folk art training organized by the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), a variety of activities took place. According to DIET Principal Chandrashekhar Joshi, under the guidance of Dr. Jagdish Chandra Kumawat, Head of the Institute's Work Experience Division, participants engaged in creating various artistic materials related to local folk art. Practical exercises were conducted using waste materials to create useful items, artworks, charts, posters, and mandana designs. Discussions were also held about the characters and narratives of the folk dance "Gavri."

During the event, Khushvendra Adhikari spoke on the role of art education and folk art, crafts, and toys in the 21st century. Durgasharma and Narendra Verma led sessions on performing arts, folk songs, folk dances, and folk theater, along with group practical exercises. Reference expert Mangilal Suthar conducted practical work on pictorial techniques, including mandana, wall painting, collage, and printmaking.

Chetan Audichya focused on the types of folk music, folk theater, and folk instruments, incorporating puppetry techniques such as string puppets, finger puppets, stick puppets, shadow puppets, masks, and printmaking into the teaching activities. He also led practical sessions in visual arts, covering traditional art forms like phad art, collage, mandana, and wall painting.

Throughout both days of activities, group discussions were held, featuring participants such as Dr. Mukesh Choubeesa, Ritu Chandani, Rekha Meghwal, Bhumika Choubeesa, Saroj Khinchi, Rakesh Bhatt, Jai Prakash Mali, Lalit Verma, and Archana Kumari from the Piramal Foundation.
