Reevaluation of Environmental Clearance for Mining Projects

Udaipur : A meeting of the newly constituted State-Level Expert Assessment Committee-4 was held on Thursday at the office of the Indian Institute of Town Planners, chaired by committee head Rahul Bhatnagar. The meeting focused on the reevaluation of environmental clearances for mining projects, during which Bhatnagar and committee members discussed various cases and made significant decisions.

During the meeting, Secretary Vinay Katta presented the agenda and noted that a total of 38 cases had been submitted for environmental clearance consideration, which would be discussed and decided upon by the committee.

Katta reported that from July 24 to September 26, a total of 14 meetings were conducted, covering 374 mining projects. These included 25 cases from Udaipur, 16 from Banswara, 1 from Pratapgarh, 9 from Dungarpur, 159 from Rajsamand, 135 from Chittorgarh, and 29 from Bhilwara. The committee reviewed and made decisions regarding the environmental clearances issued by the DEIAA, and these cases were recommended to the State-Level Environmental Impact Assessment Authority in Jaipur for issuing environmental clearances.

The meeting was attended by committee members Om Prakash Sharma, Satish Shrimali, Naveen Vyas, Anupam Bhatnagar, along with representatives from the Department of Mines and Geology, including Vigilance Mining Engineer Arif Sheikh, Lalit Kishore Bagda, Jyoti Patel, and Sameeksha Sen.
