Homeland Voting Initiative Ensures 100% Voter Turnout in Inaccessible Regions for Assembly Elections 2023

Udaipur- As part of the electoral campaign for the 2023 Assembly elections, the Election Department has launched a unique "homeland voting" initiative to ensure 100% voter turnout in remote and inaccessible areas. Under the guidance of District Election Officer (Collector) Arvind Poswal, voting teams have ventured into hilly terrains, carrying ballot boxes on their shoulders, to reach voters in far-flung villages.

Returning officer Hanuman Singh from the Gogunda constituency revealed that on Wednesday, a voting team covered an approximate distance of 60 km from the Assembly headquarters to the remote village of Palcha. In this mountainous region, a nearly 90-year-old voter named Hemera was reached with the assistance of a portable polling booth carried on the shoulders of the voting team. Following the prescribed voting procedure, Hemera participated in the "homeland voting."

Expressing gratitude, Hemera commended the simplified voting process and praised the Election Department for its efforts. He stated that despite living for many years without descending from the mountains, he exercised his democratic right comfortably this time, thanking the local administration and the Election Department for making it possible.

In another heartening incident, an 85-year-old voter named Vaili, residing in Palcha village, was elated when the voting team arrived at her home. She couldn't recall the last time she had voted but expressed joy at being a part of the democratic festival after a prolonged period. Vaili, pleased with the electoral participation, conveyed her thanks to the Election Department and voting team officials and staff for facilitating the voting process.

The "homeland voting" initiative, aiming to bring the electoral process to the doorstep of remote and elderly voters, reflects a commendable effort by the Election Department to ensure inclusive and widespread participation in the democratic process.
