Udaipur. On the auspicious occasion of Sharadiya Navaratri, Haritaraj Singh Mewar, the son of Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, a member of the former royal family of Mewar, carried out the tradition of horse worship at the City Palace. On the sacred occasion of Navaratri, Vedic scholars and Brahmins performed special rituals and prayers, conducting horse worship in the presence of Haritaraj Singh.
Bhupendra Singh Auwa, the Chief Administrative Officer of the Maharana of Mewar Charitable Foundation, explained that on Monday, horses were traditionally adorned and brought to the worship site at Leela Ki Payaga, located within the City Palace. Here, Haritaraj Singh Mewar performed the proper rituals, including the formal aarti, and offered horses their sustenance, clothing, and other necessities.
He emphasized the significance of horses in our ancient scriptures and the rich cultural heritage of India. In the Suryavanshi tradition, horses have been held in high regard for centuries. Horses have played an integral role in fulfilling the dharma of Kshatriyas and have served as exemplary symbols of devotion to one's Lord. The illustrious history of Mewar proudly documents the legendary horse Chetak, who is renowned for his loyalty to Maharana Pratap.
