A literary seminar titled “Books and Beyond: Exploring Knowledge Through Reading” was organized at the College Auditorium of the College of Community Sciences, Udaipur, in collaboration with Kalpavriksha Book Club. The event saw enthusiastic participation from book club members, faculty, and students.
The event commenced with an inspiring welcome address by the College Dean, Dr. Dhriti Solanki, who emphasized the significance of reading and how it contributes to self-development.
The workshop, led by ICAR Professors Dr. Suman Singh and Dr. Rekha Vyas, focused on the revival of the reading culture in academic spaces. Dr. Hemu Rathore introduced the speakers and reviewers, outlining the core objectives of the session.
Kalpavriksha Reading Club founder Ruchi Shrimali highlighted the need for reading and the positive transformations it brings to individuals’ lives. She stated that book clubs can attract readers of all age groups by fostering a community around books.
Members of the Kalpavriksha Reading Club presented reviews on a diverse range of books. Ms. Devagya Kalra reviewed “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio, Dr. Akanksha presented insights on “Sensitive” by Jenn Granneman and Andre Solo, Mrs. Pinky Soni discussed “Atomic Habits” by James Clear, and Dr. Anjali Juyal reviewed “Sada Safal Hanuman” by Dr. Vijay Agrawal.
Established two years ago in Udaipur, the Kalpavriksha Reading Club encourages members to read and present on various genres, fostering a culture of thoughtful discussion and reflection.
The organizing team included Dr. Hemu Rathore, Dr. Jaymala Dave, Dr. Neha Shekhawat, Dr. Anjali Juyal, along with Avisha, Ritisha, Charvi, Pradeep, and Rituraj, who played an active role in ensuring the success of the event.
