Special Workshop Highlights Green Initiatives and Awareness

Udaipur: Renowned environmental scientist and retired Assistant Forest Conservator Dr. Satish Kumar Sharma emphasized that environmental conservation is not only the responsibility of the Forest Department or government but requires a collective effort from everyone. He urged individuals to plant at least five trees during their lifetime, such as on their birthdays, anniversaries, or special occasions, to repay nature for its invaluable contributions.

Dr. Sharma was addressing the ‘Grow Green Initiative’ workshop organized by Kashti Foundation, Sendis Travel Tales, and Radisson Hotel. The event aimed to promote awareness about environmental conservation, focusing on tackling global warming and reducing pollution.

Dr. Sharma spoke on the causes of global warming and its associated problems. He pointed out that urban development, such as high-rise buildings, blocks the flow of warm air, while deforestation reduces green cover, resulting in the extreme heat felt in this year's spring. He highlighted the need to tackle the increasing industrialization and its impact on global temperatures, urging immediate action to avoid further harm.

The workshop was chaired by Shraddha Murdia, the head of the Kashti Foundation, who highlighted the dangers of global warming and environmental pollution for future generations. She emphasized the importance of spreading awareness through students and expressed the foundation's commitment to organizing quarterly workshops on environmental protection.

Special guest Ankush Kathwal, Vice President at Radisson Hotel, presented a PowerPoint on the 'Grow Green Initiative', showcasing efforts to create a "plastic-free" environment and the importance of using eco-friendly products in daily life. He called for individuals to plant trees in vacant areas and to raise awareness through students in their communities.

Dr. Kamlesh Sharma, Additional Director at Police Headquarters, emphasized the quiet yet impactful nature of trees and encouraged participants to take inspiration from trees in their conservation efforts. He also highlighted 2024 as the hottest year on record, with average temperatures 0.65°C higher than the last 123 years.

During the event, the foundation donated sound systems to students from RAUMAVI Gupdi and RAUMAVI Dhar. Guests and students were also presented with mementos. The event was attended by a large number of students, including Sunil Laddha, Rajat Meghnani, Hemant Joshi, Sandeep Rathore, Nitya Singhal, Rahul Mali, Kunal Mehta, Vinay Dave, Prerna Nausalia, Chitraseen, Aarohi Murdia, Priyanka Kothari, Surabhi Gandhi, Principal Kamal Joshi, Arpit Tripathi, RJ Yamini Sharma, RJ Riya, Richa Patel, and others.
