Udaipur: An awareness program was organized at the Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth's constituent Agricultural Science School in Dabok on the occasion of Earth Hour Day. The event, presided over by Dean Dr. G.K. Mather, saw participation from first-year students and staff members.
The special address was given by Vice Chancellor Colonel Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot, who emphasized the importance of raising awareness about climate change and motivating people to take action to protect the planet. Prof. Sarangdevot stated that Earth Hour, celebrated every year on the last Saturday of March from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, symbolizes a commitment to the Earth. During this hour, people around the world turn off unnecessary lights, highlighting their commitment to the planet’s well-being.
He noted that Rajasthan Vidyapeeth is fully committed to saving Earth and has actively participated in this awareness program. The event is part of a global movement that unites people to take action on environmental issues and safeguard the planet.
This year’s Earth Hour theme, "The Power of Nature," was discussed by Prof. Sarangdevot, who urged the community to recognize the power of nature and stay aware.
Dean Dr. G.K. Mather added that Earth Hour is celebrated across 192 countries to raise awareness about electricity and water conservation. During the hour from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, unnecessary lights will be switched off as part of this global initiative.
As per the instructions of Vice Chancellor Colonel Prof. S.S. Sarangdevot, all faculties, staff, and students across the colleges will observe Earth Hour.
On this occasion, Chancellor Bhanwarlal Gurjar, Registrar Dr. Tarun Shrimali, and Seat Holder Dr. Kaushal Nagda stressed the importance and need for such environmental initiatives. The event also saw participation from N.S. Solanki, I.J. Mathur, former Sarpanch Nana Lalji Bhopakhedi, and a large number of farmers.
