Congress Protests and Burns Effigy of "Parchi Sarkar" Over Minister’s Disparaging Remarks on Indira Gandhi

Udaipur | A joint protest by Udaipur City and Udaipur Rural District Congress was held in front of the District Collectorate, condemning the disparaging remarks made by a Rajasthan government minister about India’s first Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. The protesters also burned the effigy of the "Parchi Sarkar" (the current government).

Udaipur Rural District Congress spokesperson Dr. Sanjeev Rajpurohit reported that during the Rajasthan Assembly proceedings, Minister Avinash Gehlot made highly objectionable and disrespectful comments about former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, the "Bharat Ratna." When Congress MLAs protested, they were suspended from the budget session in an attempt to silence the opposition's voice.

As per the instructions from the state Congress, a protest was held at 1 PM today, followed by the burning of the "Parchi Sarkar" effigy.

Udaipur Rural District Congress President Kacharu Lal Choudhary stated that Indira Gandhi made significant contributions to the nation’s development and deserves respect. However, Minister Avinash Gehlot’s vile and contemptuous statements about her are unacceptable. He demanded an immediate apology for these disgraceful comments. He further stated that the "Parchi Sarkar" has no work to show for the past year, which is why they tried to silence the Leader of the Opposition’s speech that exposed their failures. Now, lawmakers from the Dalit, backward, tribal, and minority communities have been suspended from the budget session, a tactic to divert attention from the budget discussions.

Udaipur City District Congress President Fatah Singh Rathod criticized the minister’s actions, stating that just like in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, the Rajasthan government is resorting to suspending opposition members to hide its failures. He questioned the need for the minister to make such remarks during the Question Hour. He emphasized that such disparaging comments against a leader who gave her life for the country cannot be tolerated. The minister must apologize in the assembly for his remarks about Indira Gandhi. Rathod also condemned the growing irresponsible statements by government ministers in the assembly, questioning the direction the ruling party wants to take the state in. He called the government's actions an assault on democracy and the constitution.

Following the protest, the effigy of "Parchi Sarkar" was burned.

The protest was attended by Udaipur City District Congress President Fatah Singh Rathod, Udaipur Rural District Congress President Kacharu Lal Choudhary, former MLA Trilok Purbia, PCC Vice President Suresh Shrimali, PCC General Secretary Pankaj Sharma, former minister Asrar Ahmed Khan, Vivek Katara, Udaipur Rural District Congress Organization Secretary Gajendra Kothari, Udaipur City District Congress Vice President Dalpat Singh Chundawat, Mohammad Ayub, Udaipur Rural District Congress Spokesperson Dr. Sanjeev Rajpurohit, Block Presidents Someshwar Meena, Ajay Singh, Ram Singh Chadhana, Former Councillor Prashant Shrimali, Gaurav Pratap Singh, Mandal President Rituraj Mishra, Teacher Leader Devkishan Ramanuj, Former Councillor Riyaz Hussain, Udaipur City District Youth Congress President Harshvardhan Singh Kelawat, Udaipur City District Congress General Secretary Jai Prakash Nimbavat, Youth Congress’s Rohit Paliwal, District Council Member Kamini Gurjar, Titradi Vice Sarpanch Manohar Singh Sisodia, Mandal President Mustafa Sheikh, Farukh Qureshi, Former Councillor Madan Singh Baberwal, Sanjay Mandwani, and several Congress leaders and workers.
