"Amrit" Formulas Suggested by Bihar’s Rural Development Minister at Water Conservation Conference in Udaipur

Udaipur: At the second All India Conference of State Water Ministers, Bihar’s Rural Development Minister Shri Shravan Kumar emphasized the Bihar Government’s efforts in the field of water conservation. Shri Kumar stated that under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Mission, the Bihar Government has focused on rejuvenating water sources, creating new water resources, rainwater harvesting, and irrigation projects in the state.

**Achievements in Water Conservation and Management in Bihar**  
He shared that in Bihar, 47,000 water sources have been identified, and 24,000 old water sources have been restored. Over 64,000 new water sources have been created, and more than 12,000 check dams have been constructed. Additionally, 37,000 wells and over 2.03 lakh hand pumps have been equipped with recharge structures. Over 14,000 government buildings have been equipped for rainwater harvesting on their roofs. In 45,000 acres, drip irrigation systems have been implemented to conserve water. Furthermore, 1,065 plant nurseries have been established, and 17.8 million trees have been planted.

**Awareness Campaigns**  
The Bihar Government continuously conducts awareness programs under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Campaign. Every first Tuesday of the month, a "Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Day" is organized. Shri Kumar also mentioned that Bihar has received national recognition for its exemplary work in water conservation and management. The Bihar Government remains committed to ongoing water conservation efforts and has set goals to continue these activities in the future.

**Empowering Women through Water Conservation**  
The role of women in water conservation is also being given significant importance, and efforts are being made in this direction. Bihar’s Rajeevika Didis (women workers) are working to empower women through water conservation initiatives. This will ensure a water-secure future for the entire country, with women playing a major role in the process.
