Leopard Sighting, Beauty of Jawai Dam, and Adventure in the Granite Mountains

Udaipur. A group of 30 Udaipur residents, organized by the Forest Department, reached the Jawai Leopard Conservation Reserve early on Sunday morning, passing through Ranakpur Dham.

Deputy Conservator of Forests, Mr. Sunil Kumar Singh, informed that on this eco-destination tour, 30 people from Udaipur participated. The group departed at 7:30 AM and first visited the mesmerizing Ranakpur Jain Temple. After a meal at the Muchhala Mahavir Temple, the group proceeded to Jawai Dam and the Jawai Leopard Conservation Reserve in Pali district.

After a light breakfast, the group enjoyed an adventurous ride on the granite mountains, an experience that was both thrilling and nerve-wracking. While the Udaipur residents had fun on the ride, they also felt a bit anxious as they rode in jeeps over the towering peaks.

During the adventure, they were guided through areas of Jawai Dam with lower water levels, where they saw five large and small crocodiles along with migratory birds like the Bar-headed Goose, Osprey, and Common Crane, as well as resident species like the Small Pratincole, Little Cormorant, and Painted Stork.

Amidst the adventure and the cool breeze, the group enjoyed hot tea served in kulhads, and at the same time, trackers confirmed the sighting of a leopard. The group then headed toward Black Hill, where other travelers had already spotted the leopard through binoculars and cameras. Though the leopard remained hidden in the rocky terrain, the group remained hopeful and eventually, after careful observation, the leopard was spotted by everyone.

The real credit goes to the trackers who keep a vigilant watch at all times, ensuring the safety of the leopard. After thanking the trackers and jeep drivers, the group returned to Udaipur.

Mr. Sunil Kumar Singh announced that the next eco-destination tour is scheduled for the 16th of February to the Sita Mata Wildlife Sanctuary. Those interested in booking can contact the department at the designated number, 7568348678. The main attractions of the Sita Mata Wildlife Sanctuary include the Sita Mata Temple, Barghu Baodi, Valmiki Ashram, and a variety of forest birds and mammals.
