Udaipur. Congress in Rajasthan launched a sharp attack on the state government, calling it a failure and directionless. Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Govind Singh Dotasra and Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie accused the BJP government of being completely ineffective in making major decisions and being more focused on publicity rather than providing relief to the public.
Speaking to the media at Maharana Pratap Airport in Dabok, Udaipur, Dotasra said that the state government has failed to conduct exams securely, putting the future of the youth in jeopardy. Criticizing the government, he remarked, "This government is leaking. It can't even handle big exams, and now even small ones are being leaked. The double-engine government’s engines are joined backwards."
Dotasra questioned the intentions of the state government, mentioning the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP), which was announced during the tenure of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. He said the BJP government initially praised the project but is now stalling its national project status.
"If this project was so good, why isn't the central government declaring it a national project? The center is only sending papers and not ensuring Rajasthan gets its due," he said. He also demanded a caste-based census, arguing that it would lead to special budget allocations for backward classes, benefiting the weaker sections of society.
On the issue of illegal mining of sand, Dotasra took a strong stand against the government, accusing them of inaction. "The BJP government itself admits that 7 crores worth of illegal sand is being mined daily, but nothing is being done about it. The government admits that it can't do anything. This government is leaking, and it can’t be saved anymore," he said.
Dotasra also pointed out that in the previous budget, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman did not even mention Rajasthan. He expressed hopes that this time, there would be special announcements for the state, particularly regarding the water crisis. "Rajasthan should receive a special package to deal with the water scarcity issue," he said. He also demanded attention to social security and relief in tax slabs for employees.
**Tikaram Julie's Attack: "Three Terms of BJP Government, Yet Rajasthan Gets Nothing"**
Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie also attacked the central government, saying that despite Rajasthan giving the BJP a large number of MPs, the state had received nothing in return. "Modi himself laid the foundation for the ERCP, but till now no budget has been allocated for it. Only names are being changed, but no real progress is being made," he said. "Farmers are not getting fertilizers, crime rates are rising, unemployed people are not receiving allowances, and pensions for the elderly and disabled have been stopped. BJP is only relying on speeches, but nothing is being done on the ground."
Earlier, at Udaipur Dabok Airport, Govind Singh Dotasra and Tikaram Julie were warmly welcomed by Congress workers. State General Secretary and Spokesperson Pankaj Kumar Sharma honored them by draping a tricolor turban and scarf. Several Congress leaders and workers, including Hanumant Singh Boheda, Raj Singh Jhala, Tara Chand Meena, Fateh Singh Rathore, Kachru Lal Chaudhary, Lal Singh Jhala, Suresh Shrimali, Dinesh Shrimali, Vivek Katara, Hiralal Darangi, and Raunak Garg, were also present on the occasion.
