Female Technician Installs Smart Meter at MLA's Home

Surat: Gujarat, known for embracing modernization and change, is swiftly adopting smart meters, which are bringing about a revolution in the energy sector. Elected representatives are leading this transition. As part of this initiative, Bharatbhai Kikubhai Patel, the MLA of Valsad Assembly, installed a smart meter at his home. He appealed to the public, stating that smart meters are a revolutionary change in the energy sector, giving electricity consumers control over their energy usage. We can now easily monitor and manage our electricity consumption. Therefore, everyone must come forward to install smart meters, which will accelerate Gujarat's progress.

During the installation of the smart meter at MLA Bharatbhai Kikubhai Patel’s home, the spotlight was on female field technician Ujala Rameshbhai Patel. Ujala's journey serves as an inspiration to many girls who, due to various reasons, drop out of school and sit idle at home. However, Ujala did not give up and completed her training as an electrician. Her hard work paid off, and now, she is not only installing smart meters but also sending a message of female empowerment by showing that women are not behind men in any field, be it working as a technician or even reaching outer space. On Saturday, Ujala installed a smart meter at the home of MLA Bharatbhai Kikubhai Patel in Valsad.

Ujala expressed her pride in being self-reliant and building her identity as a field technician. She mentioned that the greatest achievement for her was getting the opportunity to install a smart meter at the home of an elected representative. Ujala also spoke about changing society’s mindset regarding girls. She pointed out that many girls in rural areas are unable to complete their education due to various reasons, with parents often stopping their education after class 8 or 10 or marrying them off early. Ujala considers herself fortunate as her parents supported her in pursuing her education and career. She urged all parents to change their perspective, as only then can girls become self-reliant, and the true essence of women’s empowerment can be achieved. She emphasized that merely government efforts are not enough; society needs to play an active role in this change.

It is important to note that smart meters have come as a revolution in the field of energy conservation. The central government’s people-friendly initiative is being adopted by all states across the country. To build trust among the public regarding smart meters, elected representatives are leading by example by installing them in their own homes. Bharatbhai Kikubhai Patel’s efforts are a step in the right direction.
