Prakash Chandra Sharma Receives Lifetime Maru Ratna Award

Udaipur-Jodhpur: The Maru Environmental Protection Institute (DECO) and Women’s P.G. College, Jodhpur, jointly conferred the 2024 Lifetime Maru Ratna Award to senior journalist and writer Prakash Chandra Sharma, a resident of Kyarda Khurd in Karauli district. Additionally, 10 other distinguished individuals, including Ujjwal Dadhich from Kapasan, were honored with the Maru Ratna award for their exceptional contributions to the nation and the state.

Dr. S.L. Harsh, President of the Maru Environmental Protection Institute (DECO), shared that the award ceremony was held on Saturday at the S.N. Jodhawat Auditorium of Women’s P.G. College in Jodhpur, with Professor Dr. L.N. Harsh as the chief guest.

In his address, Professor Dr. L.N. Harsh emphasized that the main objective is to protect the environment through environmental conservation and public participation.

Professor P.M. Joshi, who presided over the event, mentioned that DECO has been working continuously in this field since 1975. Distinguished guests Professor K.N. Vyas, Professor Anil Vyas, and Professor R.K. Vyas also expressed their views at the ceremony.

Professor K.N. Vyas, Chairman of the College, explained that the Maru Ratna awards were presented to individuals who made significant contributions in the fields of environmental conservation, wildlife protection, environmental writing, research, conservation, Vedic environmentalism, and organic farming. This year, the Maru Ratna awards were presented to Vijaypal Baghel, Sadhu Bela Haridwar, Ujjwal Dadhich (Kapasan, Chittorgarh), Professor Praveen Gehlot, Phoolchand Verma (Jhalawar), Professor Jaya Dave, Dr. D. Kumar Kamri, Dr. Satveer Chauhan, Moinuddin Chishti, Mrs. Shyama Purohit, and Mrs. Shobhana.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of environmental enthusiasts and intellectuals.
