Udaipur : The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Honorable Shri Gulabchand Kataria, stated that Udaipur city holds immense development potential. The roads and elevated roads being constructed for smoother transportation, along with the third and fourth phases of the Devass project, will bring about rapid growth in Udaipur in the coming years.
Shri Kataria was addressing the gathering as the chief guest at the highly anticipated foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Elevated Road at the Udaipur Municipal Corporation premises on Monday evening. The 2.75 km long, two-lane elevated road will be built from the City Railway Station to the Collector’s Residence at a cost of ₹136.89 crore. The project is expected to be completed within two years. The event was attended by Rajya Sabha MP Shri Chunnilal Garasia, Lok Sabha MP Dr. Mannalal Ravat, City MLA Shri Tarachand Jain, Udaipur Rural MLA Shri Phoolsingh Meena, Mayor Shri Govind Singh Tank, social worker Ravindra Shrimali, Chandraguptsingh Chouhan, and other public representatives.
After performing the rituals, Shri Kataria unveiled the digital plaque and laid the foundation for this critical infrastructure project. During his address, he emphasized that Udaipur has been blessed with abundant natural beauty and resources by both nature and its ancestors, and it is the collective responsibility of the city's residents to preserve and nurture it for future generations. He mentioned that the long-awaited dream of bringing water from the Arabian Sea to Udaipur, through the Devass project, is now being realized.
He added that the Elevated Road is a pressing need for the city, and after years of struggle, this dream is finally becoming a reality. In addition to the elevated road, other important road development projects are also in the pipeline. These projects, along with the Devass project, will serve as the foundation for Udaipur’s future growth and provide a much-needed solution to the city’s traffic challenges. He urged the agency and officials working on the construction of the Elevated Road to maintain high-quality standards and ensure that the infrastructure will benefit future generations.
Shri Kataria also called for coordinated efforts from all public representatives for Udaipur's development. During the ceremony, other leaders, including Rajya Sabha MP Shri Chunnilal Garasia, Lok Sabha MP Dr. Mannalal Ravat, City MLA Shri Tarachand Jain, and Udaipur Rural MLA Shri Phoolsingh Meena, also shared their thoughts on the project.
In the opening remarks, Mayor Shri Govind Singh Tank welcomed the dignitaries and provided detailed information about the elevated road project. The mayor and council members honored the guests with traditional turbans, shawls, and floral bouquets.
The ceremony was also attended by District Collector Shri Arvind Poswal, UDA Commissioner Shri Rahul Jain, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shri Ramprakash, SP Shri Yogesh Goyal, along with numerous public representatives, officials, councilors, and city residents.
