Lakshyaraj Singh Mevada Upholds the Tradition of Girls' Annual School Fees Donation

Udaipur | Lakshyaraj Singh Mevada, while continuing the traditions of his forefathers, made the annual contribution towards the study fees of girls studying at the Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Jagdish Chowk for the year 2023-2024.

Highlighting the importance of empowering the girls' education system, Lakshyaraj Singh Mevada emphasized the need for strong efforts to make girls' education more accessible and compulsory. Many girls wish to pursue their education, but various domestic issues or financial constraints often disrupt their studies. Upholding the heritage of his ancestors who have consistently supported the tradition of education, he has strived to perpetuate this legacy.

Historical Account of Shambhuratna School:

During the reign of the 71st Protector of Mewar, Maharana Shambhu Singh (1861-1874), the first school of Udaipur State was established in January 1863. It was named Shambhuratna Pathshala. In 1866, it was transformed into a girls' school, becoming the first girls' school established in the Mewar state, and the first girls' school in India initiated by a princely state.

Government Girls Senior Secondary School:

Currently, the school is managed under the guidance of the Education Directorate, Government of Rajasthan, Bikaner. The school caters to approximately 300 girls from classes 9 to 12. In 2014, the school celebrated its grand 150th-anniversary.

Restoration and Development of the Government School:

Under the "Shiksha Namak Pariyojana" (Education Project) in Udaipur, the renovation and development of this school building began. Committed to preserving and revitalizing the historical bonds between the school and the Mewar family, the school authorities are renovating the school premises with a keen focus on the rich history. As per the requests of the school officials, Lakshyaraj Singh Mevada, a trustee of the Foundation since 2015, is wholeheartedly devoted to the restoration and rejuvenation work and other noble initiatives.
