RNT Medical College to Offer Fistula Surgery and Plastic Surgery Services for Free

Udaipur, Rajasthan – In a significant development for kidney and plastic surgery patients, RNT Medical College in Udaipur will now offer essential treatments locally, providing relief to many who previously had to travel to private hospitals or even Ahmedabad for specialized care. The services will be provided under the Chief Minister Ayushman Health Insurance Scheme at no cost to patients.

Starting immediately, dialysis patients will benefit from the availability of AV fistula surgeries, a crucial procedure for those requiring regular dialysis. Additionally, plastic surgery services to treat congenital deformities will now be accessible at RNT. The state government has appointed two specialist doctors to cater to the increasing number of patients in nephrology and plastic surgery departments at the college.

Dr. Pankaj Beniwal, a senior nephrologist from SMS Jaipur, has been appointed as the head of the nephrology department. Dr. Vikas Chaudhary, a plastic surgeon trained at AIIMS, has joined RNT to serve as the plastic surgery specialist. Both departments had been vacant following the departure of Dr. Mukesh Badjatya (nephrology) and Dr. R.K. Paliwal (plastic surgery), causing considerable hardship for patients.

Fistula Surgery Now Available at RNT
Previously, dialysis patients were forced to visit private hospitals or travel to Ahmedabad for AV fistula surgeries. With the launch of this service at RNT, patients can now receive this essential treatment in their local area. Medical experts explain that the creation of an AV fistula is necessary for kidney patients undergoing dialysis, as it helps facilitate blood purification. Vascular and plastic surgeons at RNT will now perform the surgery, which involves connecting veins and arteries in the arm.

Plastic Surgery Services for Various Conditions
After a prolonged absence, plastic surgery services have resumed at MB Hospital. Dr. Chaudhary will now offer a range of treatments, including reconstructive surgeries for breast cancer survivors, liposuction for men, correction of congenital deformities in children, treatment of deep diabetic wounds, burn contractures, and other post-surgical deformities.

OPD Schedule

Dr. Pankaj Beniwal (Nephrology): Wednesday and Saturday, SSB Room No. 2

Dr. Vikas Chaudhary (Plastic Surgery): Wednesday and Saturday, SSB Room No. 10

Dr. Vipin Mathur, Principal of RNT Medical College, expressed, “The state government is committed to improving patient care by providing free treatments and filling vacancies in key medical departments. Patients no longer need to travel long distances for treatment, and the introduction of these services at RNT is a major step in enhancing healthcare facilities in the region.”
