95-Year-Old Mother Receives Eye and Body Donation Pledge as Birthday Gift from Grandchildren

There was a time when explaining eye donation, body donation, and organ donation to elderly family members was met with considerable resistance. This was mainly due to a lack of awareness and information on these topics, along with a shortage of knowledgeable individuals who could provide guidance. However, thanks to the continuous awareness campaign by Shine India Foundation over the past 13 years, today, every household in the Hadoti region is aware and dedicated to eye donation, organ donation, and body donation.

In line with these ongoing efforts, the Bagdiya (Jain) family in the city celebrated the 95th birthday of their mother, Suraj Bai Bagdiya, wife of the late Shri Jeetmal Bagdiya, by not only filling out an eye donation pledge form for her but also encouraging all family members and friends to take the pledge. Through invitation cards, they raised awareness among their relatives and the community about the importance of eye donation.

The 95th birthday celebration of Suraj Bai was attended by 33 members from three generations of the family at Oswal Bhavan, RK Puram. During the event, Shine India Foundation set up a stall to raise awareness about eye donation, organ donation, and body donation, encouraging guests to fill out their pledge forms. The announcer repeatedly urged all guests to sign the eye donation pledge.

In a remarkable show of unity, family members of all ages, from children to elders, filled out eye donation pledge forms. In total, 113 family members committed to eye donation, while 56 individuals pledged to donate their organs—an achievement that had not been seen in any previous camp.

On this occasion, the eldest son of the family, Jaykumar Jain, shared, "Our mother's eye donation pledge has not only become an inspiration for all of us but has also brought our family closer together. This initiative has reminded us that the true meaning of life lies not just in living, but in helping others.
