Jaipur: A Mega Cataract Surgery Camp was inaugurated by Lt Gen Manjinder Singh, Army Commander, Sapta Shakti Command & Mrs BarinderJit Kaur, Regional President AWWA, Sapta Shakti Command at Military Hospital Jaipur on 24 Feb 2025. This noble initiative aims to provide quality eye care to those who have dedicated their lives to the service of the nation.
During the camp, team of expert eye surgeons led by Brig Sanjay Kumar Mishra, a highly decorated eye surgeon of the Army Medical Corps (AMC) and HoD Eye Department, R&R Hospital, Delhi, will perform free cataract surgeries, eye check-ups & give medicines to beneficiaries from 24-28 Feb 2025. The team includes Lt Col Ishan Agarwal, Lt Col Ravi Chauhan and Maj Amrita Joshi.
Over the span of four days, the team will perform more than 300 cataract surgeries, conduct thorough eye check-ups for veterans and their families and distribute spectacles and essential medicines to ensure holistic eye care.
The Army Commander, in his address, stated that the camp has been meticulously planned with primary focus on eye care and specialised surgical interventions for promoting healthy eyesight. He expressed confidence that the camp will greatly benefit veterans and their families.
This initiative highlights the unwavering commitment of the Indian Army towards the well-being of its veterans and their families, reinforcing the ethos of care, respect and gratitude for their selfless service.
