From February 22nd to 25th, the 5th International Yogini Award and International Women's Yoga Conference will be held in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Dr. Shubha Surana, the renowned yoga teacher from Rajasthan, will be honored with the 'National Yogini Award' for her dedicated service and exceptional achievements in the field of yoga over the past 20 years.
Dr. Preeti Dhupad, Principal of Sun College, informed that several distinguished personalities, including Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati, Pujya Dr. H.R. Nagendra, Pujya Sadhvi Bhagwati Ji, Honorable Union Minister Smt. - Holder of the first Ph.D. in Yoga from Mohanlal Sukhadia University (MLSU).
- Served as a guest lecturer at the MLSU Yoga Center for 8 years.
- Hosting the International Yoga Day celebrations since 2017 in Udaipur, with over 3000 participants annually.
- Honored by the district administration on January 26, 2018, for her significant contributions to yoga.
- Represented MLSU as a special guest at India's first G20 Sherpa meeting.
Dr. Shubha Surana has published over 11 research papers in national and international journals, with chapters in ISBN and Scopus-indexed journals. She has provided yoga services to prestigious institutions like Taj Lake Palace, Wonder Cement, DPS, NCC, and many others. Additionally, she has organized yoga training programs for hotels, corporate offices, educational institutions, and government organizations.
Dr. Surana's yoga journey began in 2004 when she received a diploma in yoga education. She expanded her practice beyond personal use and dedicated herself to spreading yoga to the community. Through her 20 years of dedication, she has taught yoga to thousands of students, medical professionals, and practitioners.
She made history by becoming the first woman to earn a Ph.D. in Yoga from MLSU with the UGC-NET qualification. She has also represented India at various international yoga conferences.
With continuous efforts to promote yoga globally, she is currently working with the Government of India and the World Health Organization (WHO) to initiate special yoga training programs for women and children. She believes that yoga is not just an exercise but a complete lifestyle essential for everyone.
