New Delhi: Chittorgarh MP C.P. Joshi participated in the Zero Hour discussion in the Lok Sabha today, raising railway-related issues in his constituency. He highlighted the need for the Udaipur-Kota (via Chanderiya) railway line doubling and the introduction of a Vande Bharat train service from Mewar to Ahmedabad-Surat.
MP Joshi informed the House that after the formation of the Modi government at the Centre in 2014, historical progress has been made in the railway sector through a railway revolution. In his constituency, significant works such as railway line doubling, new rail lines, electrification, and track conversion have taken place. Chittorgarh, a major industrial area, is also a key hub for tourism.
The region is home to a cement and minerals hub. Both freight and passenger trains face heavy congestion in this area. Therefore, the central government has undertaken the work of doubling the rail line from Chittorgarh to Neemuch, continuing up to Ratlam. The doubling of the rail line between Ajmer and Chittorgarh has also been approved and is in progress.
The next step is to double the railway line from Udaipur, passing through Chanderiya to Kota. If this project is approved, it will open new avenues for development in the region and reduce the waiting time for both passenger and freight trains at various stations. Additionally, the operation of new trains will be facilitated more efficiently.
Furthermore, considering the regional demand, Joshi emphasized the need for the introduction of a Vande Bharat train service from Mewar to Surat, passing through Ahmedabad, which would greatly benefit the area.
