Prime Minister Narendra Modi Cites a Tribal Family in Dungarpur as an Example of Success in the Swachh Bharat Mission

New Delhi. Non-official member of Swachh Bharat Mission NSSC (Rural) of Government of India and State Coordinator of Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural) of Rajasthan Government KK Gupta has said that the Swachh Bharat Mission campaign started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi 10 years ago has changed the picture of the country and a small town like Dungarpur of the tribal area of South Rajasthan has also gained tremendous fame in the country and abroad by doing extraordinary work in the field of cleanliness.

Gupta told in a special interview that on completion of ten years of Swachh Bharat Mission in the country, while participating in the Swachhta program organized on Gandhi Jayanti in the national capital New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the example of a tribal family of Dungarpur selling their goats to build a toilet in their house, which is a matter of pride for Dungarpur. Prime Minister Modi said that the Swachhta program being run in India is the world's largest mass movement under which more than 12 crore toilets have been built in the last ten years. This mission has brought together crores of people to realize the dream of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi of a clean India. The Prime Minister has appealed to every citizen of the country to join this campaign to further strengthen the spirit of Swachh Bharat. The more successful the Swachhta Abhiyan is, the more our country will not only shine the most in the world but will also move towards happiness and prosperity.

Gupta said that along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma also has this vision that the benefits of Swachhata Abhiyan should reach every person living in every village and hamlet. The importance of cleanliness can only be understood by the person who earlier used to live in a polluted environment full of filth but now due to Swachh Bharat Mission, he is not only able to see cleanliness and beauty in his surroundings but is also getting rid of serious diseases.

Calling to strengthen Swachh Bharat Mission in accordance with the spirit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he appealed to the people that they should not only adopt cleanliness themselves but also inspire everyone living around them to do so.

He told that due to filth, deadly diseases like malaria and dengue and other epidemics also spread.

Gupta told that after the rainy season, the number of people falling sick has suddenly increased and hospitals across the state are full of patients. It is being found in the investigation by the doctors that lakhs of people have come under the grip of dengue and malaria. One of the main reasons for spreading such deadly epidemic diseases is dirtiness and hence everyone must think seriously about cleanliness.

Gupta said that after the rainy season, the number of people falling sick has suddenly increased and hospitals across the state are filled with patients. Doctors are finding that lakhs of people have fallen prey to dengue and malaria. One of the main reasons for the spread of such deadly epidemic diseases is dirt and therefore everyone has to think seriously about cleanliness.

Gupta said that under the Swachh Bharat Mission, an amount of Rs 12 lakh is allocated to every Gram Panchayat of Rajasthan every year. It has also been told in the government data that out of 42 thousand 469 villages of the state, 20 thousand 400 villages have been declared as Adarsh villages, but in reality, there is still a need to bring cleanliness on the ground in the Adarsh villages. Even after adequate budget allocation every year, the condition of public toilets in villages and cities is very pathetic, along with this, there is a pile of dirt, garbage and plastic all around. The reports coming in the media themselves are giving the reality of the picture of villages around world famous tourist places like Udaipur. It is sad to say that the budget of Swachh Bharat Mission is still not being utilized properly. To deal with these circumstances, the concerned officers and employees will have to understand their responsibilities seriously.

Gupta said that in this background, he has suggested to the Central and State Government to make a law against those who do not adopt cleanliness and to make a provision for giving fine and to implement cleanliness cess to make the cleanliness movement more effective.
