Daya Ram Bhand and His Ensemble Captivate Audiences at All India Radio's "Mati Ke Rang" Event

New Delhi. The "Mati Ke Rang" cultural evening, organized by All India Radio at the Rang Bhavan in Patel Chowk, showcased the extraordinary talents of internationally acclaimed folk artist Daya Ram Bhand and his troupe from Nagaur, Rajasthan. For about an hour and a half, they mesmerized the audience with enchanting performances that highlighted the magic of Rajasthani music. Daya Ram Bhand, a recipient of numerous awards including the Ministry of Culture's Youth Award and the Bismillah Khan Award, captivated the crowd with his stunning renditions.

The event was graced by the presence of Union Minister of State for Agriculture Ram Nath Thakur as the chief guest, while Navneet Kumar Sehgal, Chairman of Prasar Bharati, presided over the ceremony. Dr. Pragya Paliwal Gaud, Director General of All India Radio, welcomed the guests and artists.

Daya Ram Bhand began the evening with popular Rajasthani songs like "Padharo Mhare Des" and "Mimbuda... Nimbuda," creating an enchanting atmosphere. Accompanied by talented musicians on harmonium, sarangi, tabla, dholak, khartal, and jhanjhar, the performance was a visual and auditory delight.

The audience was further enthralled by the stunning folk dance performances, featuring the renowned Ghoomar, Chari, and Kalbelia dances, performed by Bhand's troupe, which resonated throughout the hall.

The event commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, conducted by Minister Thakur, Chairman Navneet Kumar Sehgal, and Dr. Pragya Paliwal Gaud, along with other dignitaries. The engaging hosting by All India Radio's announcer won hearts, and the program was broadcast live on All India Radio's YouTube channel and recorded by Doordarshan.

Notably, Daya Ram Bhand has performed nearly 6,000 stage shows both in India and abroad, showcasing the richness of his traditional folk heritage. He has been trained in this vibrant art form by his father and guru, Ugaram Ram Bhand. With over 30 years of extensive experience, he is dedicated to preserving and promoting this cherished folk music tradition.
