Political Wizard Ashok Gehlot Steps Out Again, Takes Up Role as Star Campaigner for Haryana Elections

Political wizard and senior Congress leader, former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, has stepped out of his home and re-engaged in active politics. After being bedridden for three months due to a slip disc injury during the Lok Sabha elections, Gehlot has recovered and resumed his political activities. Despite his illness, Gehlot had continued to make statements on national and state issues throughout his recovery.

On Friday, two major events unfolded in the national capital, Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo, was released from Tihar Jail on bail in the liquor scam case. Simultaneously, Ashok Gehlot arrived in Delhi after a three-month hiatus due to his illness.

Upon reaching Delhi, Gehlot immediately began meeting Congress senior leaders and engaged with Congress headquarters. The party has appointed him as a star campaigner for the Haryana Assembly elections. Political sources suggest that Gehlot’s sudden call to Delhi by the party high command is linked to the upcoming elections in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir, potentially indicating a significant role for him.

Gehlot's return to active politics after three months of rest is notable. During his recovery, he had still managed to criticize the BJP and address various political issues. His Delhi visit has stirred considerable political activity, with speculation that he might be given a major responsibility by the party high command.

In the past, Gehlot played a crucial role as a senior observer during the Lok Sabha elections, specifically for the Amethi constituency where he was instrumental in Kishori Lal Sharma's victory. As the party gears up for elections in Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and upcoming by-elections in six Rajasthan seats, Gehlot’s re-emergence is seen as a strategic move.

Political analysts believe that Gehlot’s Delhi visit could be a significant step towards fulfilling his political ambitions. The outcome of his meetings with Congress leaders, his historical relationship with the Gandhi family, and his potential role in the Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir elections will likely shape his future political trajectory. Additionally, there is speculation about whether Gehlot might be assigned a prominent role within the central Congress office, especially in balancing the factional dynamics between Gehlot and Sachin Pilot.

During his visit, Gehlot also addressed other national issues. He expressed concern over the situation in West Bengal, including the gang-rape and murder of a female doctor, calling it a grave incident mishandled by local authorities. He criticized the Governor-CM tensions in several states and affirmed confidence in Congress's success in the Rajasthan by-elections.

Gehlot’s remarks on social media included a defense of Rahul Gandhi against BJP attacks, emphasizing Gandhi's pivotal role in national politics and condemning BJP's alleged attempts to undermine Gandhi’s reputation.

With elections on the horizon in Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and by-elections in Rajasthan, it will be intriguing to see if Congress assigns Gehlot a major role in these critical times.
