Udaipur: A rigorous three-day visit by a six-member team from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to Mohanlal Sukhadia University has just concluded, and the university is eagerly awaiting the announcement of its grading results, which is anticipated within the next week.
The NAAC team, led by Chairman Prof. Ramesh Chandra Mishra from Mahakoushal University, Jabalpur, and coordinated by Prof. Manoj Kumar Shastri from Gujarat University, Ahmedabad, included four other distinguished members: Professor Pradeepta Kumar Behera from Sambalpur University, Odisha; Professor A.M. Shah from Islamic University, Srinagar; Professor Mohammad Altaf Khan from Jamia Millia Islamia University, New Delhi; and Dr. Sukirti Ghoshal from Hindi University, West Bengal.
This comprehensive visit encompassed an assessment of all university departments, facilities, and infrastructure. The team meticulously inspected various facets of the university, including the social sciences and humanities college, law college, science college, commerce college, Faculty of Management Studies, sports complex, administrative buildings, examination sections, hostels, cafeterias, as well as all departmental laboratories and university libraries.
Notably, this visit marks the third time the university has been assessed by NAAC. The initial visit took place in 2003, resulting in a 'B+' grade, followed by the second visit in 2014, where an 'A' grade was achieved. This third visit is highly anticipated to surpass the 'A' grade.
Attaining a favorable grading from NAAC holds significant importance for the university. If it receives an 'A+' grade, it would not only qualify for financial assistance under government schemes without the need for further official inspections but would also facilitate the university's transition to a Central University. As it stands, the university is already meeting the necessary criteria for Central University status.
The NAAC team lauded the university's academic environment, administrative efficiency, and state-of-the-art infrastructure. They commended the research projects, laboratories, and innovative initiatives. The results of the grading process are typically announced within a week following a NAAC visit.
In essence, the university's diligent preparation has led to perfection in documentation and the noteworthy accomplishments of its faculty. Achieving an 'A+' grading brings numerous advantages, including enhanced opportunities for higher education and a smoother transition to Central University status. Mohanlal Sukhadia University is currently well-positioned to realize its aspiration of becoming a Central University.
