The water of Akodara's lakes was already contaminated before reaching the clean water lakes. There is a lot of dirt and filth on Ring Road. To increase the availability of drinking water in Udaipur, clean water is being brought from the Akodada Dam to the lakes in Udaipur. However, the continuous flow of sewage into the Sisarma River is polluting the clean water. Moreover, a large amount of garbage, filth, and other dirt has been dumped in Ring Road, eventually ending up in the lakes with the rain.
During a visit to the lakes on Sunday, lake enthusiasts witnessed these alarming conditions. They found that due to the non-functioning of the Sisarma sewage lift pump, the entire village's wastewater and dirty water continuously flow into the river. The colour of the clear water flowing in the river has changed due to mixing with sewage. This contaminated sewage, filled with harmful bacteria and chemicals, seriously threatens the Pichola and Fateh Sagar lakes. It will harm people's health as well.
Lake enthusiasts have appealed to the municipality, irrigation department, and district collector to immediately free the lakes from these pollutants. Dr Anil Mehta, Tej Shankar Paliwal, Nand Kishor Sharma, Kushal Raval, Drupad Singh, and Ramesh Chandra Rajput were present during the visit.
