Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has given instructions to complete the revised PKC ERCP, the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project, considered to be the lifeline of Eastern Rajasthan, in the next two years. This will ensure that Eastern Rajasthan will not face water shortage in the coming years like Western Rajasthan, which comes under the Indira Gandhi Canal Project.
On the occasion of the review meeting of the Water Resources Department, Indira Gandhi Canal Department, Irrigated Area Development and Water Utility Department, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal has made preparations to get the PKC ERCP completed in the next two years to overcome the severe drinking water crisis in Rajasthan during summers.
Suggested to start work on the land acquired so far in the project. Gave instructions for proper arrangement of rehabilitation of people affected by acquisition. Also gave instructions to prepare maps and alignment design given to Yamuna Water Task Force.
Gave instructions to complete the work of converting natural depression into reservoirs soon. Gave instructions to specially develop sprinkler irrigation systems. Gave instructions to expedite Parwan large multipurpose irrigation project, gave instructions to complete Isarda drinking water project in June.
Gave instructions to complete the Dholpur lift irrigation project also in June. The state government will ensure availability of all resources. Special officers will be appointed for coordination in land acquisition works.
Similarly, preparations are being made to supply Yamuna water to the Shekhawati region of the state. For this, a task force meeting will be held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister. The meeting of the Yamuna Water Agreement has been scheduled for April 20 in Pilani.
In this way, the Rajasthan government, with the support of the Modi government at the Center, has geared up to overcome the water shortage in water-scarce Rajasthan.
