Priyanka Gandhi's Yellow Turban Wins Everyone's Hearts

On Friday, Priyanka Gandhi, the General Secretary of the Congress, made a significant effort to connect with voters in the 42 constituencies of eastern Rajasthan. She chose the village of Kaandauli, near Sikarai in the Dausa district, to address a massive public gathering, and she began her speech with a traditional "Ram Ram" greeting. During her address, she expressed her support for granting national project status to the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP), which is of great importance to the people of eastern Rajasthan.

The sight of Priyanka Gandhi donning a yellow turban quickly went viral on social media. Her name was intricately woven into all four corners of the turban, with the Congress party symbol also incorporated. Priyanka Gandhi was visibly delighted to wear this turban, and her enthusiasm resonated with the large number of women in attendance, who responded with resounding applause.

Eastern Rajasthan, spanning thirteen districts and considered to be the lifeline of the region, has seen the ERCP being caught in a political tussle. The Gehlot government initiated the Jan Jagran Abhiyan, an awareness campaign to surround the central government for its apathy towards the ERCP. This campaign culminated with a special invitation to Priyanka Gandhi.

Prior to the assembly elections, Congress made a concerted effort to secure all 42 assembly seats in this region. The campaign was kicked off with a massive rally by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot flew in with Priyanka Gandhi on a helicopter from New Delhi. Former Chief Minister Sachin Pilot and other leaders were already present at the venue. Sachin Pilot and his late father, Rajesh Pilot, have been elected as MPs from Dausa, making it a Pilot stronghold. This is why Priyanka Gandhi chose this location for her rally.

Priyanka Gandhi, during the Sikarai rally, launched a scathing attack on the Modi government for its indifference to the ERCP and other issues. She appealed to the people of Rajasthan to change their tradition and vote for Congress in the upcoming elections. She stated that the people of Rajasthan should open their eyes, acknowledge the tremendous work done by the Gehlot government, and vote accordingly.

It remains to be seen whether these fiery rallies by Congress leaders, the ERCP issue, and the popularity of Gehlot's government programs can sway the votes of Rajasthan's largest and politically significant state in the upcoming assembly elections. Voters in the state are now eagerly awaiting the first list of Congress candidates. Meanwhile, the BJP is carefully planning its strategy following the release of its initial list of 41 candidates, after much internal discord and deliberation.
