Vedanta Udaipur World Music Festival 2025 Begins with a Fusion of Folk, Bollywood, and Global Beats

Udaipur: The Vedanta Udaipur World Music Festival 2025 commenced at Gandhi Ground with spectacular performances by renowned artists from India and abroad. The three-day festival, conceptualized by Sehar and supported by Hindustan Zinc Limited and the Rajasthan Tourism Department, is free for all visitors. The festival blends Indian folk, Bollywood tunes, and global rhythms, offering a musical journey across cultures.

The evening began with a soulful performance by Yaar Mohammad Langa and his Sarangi Orchestra, showcasing the rich heritage of Rajasthani folk music. Bringing a North African vibe, Algerian blues-rock band Tiwiza delivered an energetic live performance influenced by Berber and Chaabi traditions. Led by Sofiane Belaid, the fusion of rock and desert blues introduced the audience to the storytelling traditions of the Maghreb.

Adding a Bollywood touch, Kanika Kapoor and the popular pop duo Sukriti and Prakriti Kakkar enthralled the audience with a mix of film and contemporary pop music, keeping the crowd energized. The highlight of the evening was Grammy Award-winning artist Dobet Gnahoré’s electrifying Afro-pop performance, complete with dynamic dance moves and high-energy rhythms. The seamless fusion of Tiwiza, Dobet Gnahoré, and Rajasthan’s Sarangi Orchestra created a mesmerizing experience for music lovers.

Speaking at the inaugural event, Sehar’s Founder-Director Sanjeev Bhargava emphasized the festival’s cultural diversity, stating that bringing together global and Indian musical influences on one stage makes this event unique.

Arun Mishra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc Limited, expressed pride in supporting the festival, highlighting its role in promoting young talent and positioning Udaipur as a global cultural hub. "The fusion of international music with Rajasthani folk underscores our commitment to nurturing creativity and cultural expression," he said.
