Hindustan Zinc’s Third Consecutive Win at 53rd All India Mine Rescue Competition

 The company’s men team clinch top spot in overall metal mines category, seces a total of 11 accolades across various categories Udaipur, 27 th December 2024: Hindustan Zinc Limited (NSE: HINDZINC), India’s largest and the world’s second-largest integrated zinc producer, emerged victorious with 11 prestigious accolades at the 53rd All India Mine Rescue Competition, held at Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), Dhanbad. Organized by the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), the event witnessed participation from 32 teams across India and was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including Mr. Shyam Mishra, Director of Mines Safety (DMRS), and Mr. Alex, Secretary of the International Mine Rescue Body. The men’s team from Hindustan Zinc’s Rampura Agucha mine secured the top position in the overall metal mines category, marking the company’s third consecutive victory at this competition. The event emphasized emergency preparedness through real-life scenarios, reinforcing Hindustan Zinc’s leadership in mine rescue operations. Hindustan Zinc fielded four teams, including two pioneering women’s teams and two men’s teams from the Rampura Agucha cluster, Rajpura Dariba Complex, and Zawar Group of Mines. Following in the footsteps of India’s and the company’s first all-women underground mine rescue team, Hindustan Zinc’s second all-women rescue team from the Rampura Agucha cluster achieved an impressive second-place finish in the women’s category. Previously, the first all-women team clinched the top spot at the 52nd edition of the competition. Additionally, Hindustan Zinc claimed first-place honours across multiple categories, including Best in First Aid, Best Fresh Air Base, Best in Theory, and Best in Statutory Tasks. Participants were tested on a range of challenging tasks, including theoretical assessments, first aid, statutory procedures, and simulated mine rescue and recovery operations. Hindustan Zinc’s teams demonstrated resilience, technical expertise, and ingenuity, earning high praise from DGMS officials and industry veterans for their exceptional performance.
