Sanoj Mishra Supports Kangana's "Emergency": Calls Opposition an Attack on Freedom of Expression

Mumbai – Recently, Kangana Ranaut's film "Emergency" has stirred significant controversy in the film industry, drawing attention both nationally and internationally. The film focuses on the Emergency imposed in India in 1975 and its repercussions. The political climate surrounding its narrative has become polarized, with some demanding a ban on the film. However, Kangana's team argues that they have crafted a film based on a true event, and there should be no objections.

In light of this situation, director Sanoj Mishra, known for his film "The Diary of West Bengal," has publicly defended "Emergency." In a social media post, he stated, “If film is a mirror to society, why do people avoid looking at their reflection? Today's youth may not know that Congress imposed Emergency for its dictatorship, a horrific tragedy that cannot be forgotten. Yet, when Kangana Ranaut brings a film on that tragedy, the gutter-minded leftists and self-proclaimed secularists start squirming.”

Mishra praised Kangana, calling her an "Iron Lady" for her fearless approach in both the film industry and politics. He emphasized that while it may be easy to conform, it takes courage to carve out a unique identity like Kangana has. He expressed admiration for her tenacity in facing mafia pressures and corrupt politicians, highlighting her commitment to the film "Emergency," which she has risked everything to create.

Reflecting on his own experiences, Mishra mentioned how he faced a personal crisis recently, describing it as tragic. He insisted that filmmakers should focus on their craft rather than engage in propaganda, which he reserved for politicians. He recounted that during his struggles, Kangana was the only one who came to his aid, engaging with key political figures on his behalf, which ultimately led to his rescue.

As the discussion continues, it remains to be seen how public sentiment will shape around "Emergency." While many, like Sanoj Mishra, rally in support, there are still voices attempting to create a negative narrative against the film. "Emergency" represents a significant ambition for Kangana Ranaut, and the upcoming period could prove to be a defining moment for her cinematic journey. This information was shared by film publicist Sanjay Bhushan Patiala from Mumbai.
