In recent years, the name Manoj Pandey has emerged prominently in Bhojpuri cinema. Hailing from Shahdol district, Madhya Pradesh, he has written over 50 films, most of which have been blockbusters.
After completing his graduation, Manoj Pandey began his career as a writer in 2012 with the Bhojpuri film ‘Kalia’, starring Haider Kazmi and Akshara Singh in lead roles.
During a conversation, Manoj Pandey revealed that if he had not become a Bhojpuri film writer, he would have pursued a career as a teacher. However, his parents, (Late Shri Ramkrishna Pandey and Late Vimla Pandey), wanted him to become an officer. Although he couldn't become a teacher, he believes that cinema is also a powerful medium to educate society.
The turning point in Manoj Pandey's career came with the film ‘Dabang Sarkar’, starring Khesari Lal Yadav and Akanksha Awasthi. After its massive success, he started receiving numerous big projects.
He has also written ‘Babli Ki Baarat’ (Shubham Tiwari, Preeti Shukla), ‘Mandap’ (Dinesh Lal Yadav, Amrapali Dubey), ‘Rakt Bhoomi’ (Ravi Kishan, Monalisa), ‘Shubh Vivah’ (Pramod Premi), ‘Mard Tange Wala’ (Viraj Bhatt, Anjana Singh), ‘Shaadi By Chance’ (Arvind Akela Kallu, Akanksha Dubey), and ‘Maa Bhavani’ (Amrapali Dubey), among others.
Manoj Pandey’s next film, ‘Lakhan Singh’, featuring Pawan Singh in the lead role, is set to release soon.
